Setting up ProphetDirect^®
with the downloader for MetaStock^®

There are a couple of different versions of downloader software from Reuters, and you can use either one with ProphetDirect. One version, which can be obtained from Reuters by clicking this link, supports only the Reuters DataLink service. The other version works with Reuters and the Dial/Data service.

Setting up the downloader (Reuters Datalink version) for ProphetDirect

1. Start the downloader, either with the Start Menu or with the Tools menu from within the MetaStock program.
   
   
2. From the Tools menu, choose Vendor Options.
   
   
3. Click on the Reuters Datalink tab.
   

   Even though you are selecting the Reuters Datalink tab from the downloader, you are not actually using the Reuters Datalink service. You need to use these settings in order to establish the connection for receiving the data. Prophet and Prophet services are not related to or endorsed by Reuters or Equis International.

4. From the drop-down list of networks, choose Internet.
   
   
5. Enter your user name in the User Name field and your password in the Password field. You created these when you signed up for the service. Remember, your user name must begin with the letters EQ.
   
   
6. Click on the Advanced button.
   
   
7. In the Address field, enter data.prophet.net
   
   
8. Click the OK button, then click the next OK button.
   
   You are now ready to start downloading from the ProphetDirect service!

Setting up the downloader (Reuters Dial/Data version 6.52+) for ProphetDirect

The ProphetDirect system is compatible with versions of MetaStock that have Internet downloading (versions 6.52 and higher).

Setting up Metastock's downloader software, which is MetaStock's data downloading system, to download from ProphetDirect is easy. You may want to print these instructions, because you need to follow them precisely to make your system work correctly (but you'll only have perform this procedure once!):

1. Using a web browser, go to this URL:

   http://www.Prophet.Net/download/PDHelper.exe
   
   If for some reason you cannot or do not want to use the PDHelper.exe program, click here and follow the instructions to make these changes manually. You do not have to do steps 1 through 4 of these instructions if you make these changes manually.
   
   

2. When the dialog box appears, choose "Run this program from its current location" and click OK.
   
   
3. Click OK to run the program.
   
   
4. Click Yes to proceed, and follow the instructions presented to you on the screen.
   
   
5. Start the downloader, either with the Start Menu or with the Tools menu from within the MetaStock program.
   
   
6. From the Tools menu, choose Vendor Options.
   
   
7. Click on the Dial/Data tab.
   

   Even though you are selecting the Dial/Data tab from the downloader, you are not actually using the Dial/Data service. You need to use these settings in order to establish the connection for receiving the data. Prophet and Prophet services are not related to or authorized by Track Data Corporation or the Dial/Data Service.

8. From the drop-down list of networks, choose Internet.
   
   
9. Enter your user name in the User Name field and your password in the Password field. (You created these when you signed up for the service). Remember, your user name must begin with the letters EQ.
   
   
10. Click on the Advanced button.
    
    
11. Near the bottom of the dialog box are entry boxes for Host 1 and Host 2. Enter www.prophet.net for both Host 1 and Host 2.
    
    

    Important note: Do not cut and paste these addresses.
    You need to type them in manually.
    
    

12. Click the OK button, then click the next OK button.
    
    
13. Make absolutely sure you have the latest patches from Equis, in particular, the QCenter.exe file, which can be downloaded from:
